Robert Rotar
The conductor and director of BYO1, Robert Rotar is held in high regard in musical circles throughout Queensland. He has regularly been a guest conductor for the Queensland Youth Orchestra, recently conducting QYO2/BYO1 for combined performances on our 2017 and 2019 tours and QYP/BYO1 during their tour to Bundaberg in 2018. Robert conducted Bundaberg Municipal Band for 21 years, and has been guest conductor for Bundaberg Orpheus Singers and Bundaberg Sinfonietta. 
Robert is an instrumental music specialist at St. Luke's Anglican School in Bundaberg.

Megan Hoban

In 2020 Megan was officially appointed as the Conductor of the Bundaberg Youth Orchestra’s training orchestra, affectionately known as BYO2.
Megan Hoban received her Bachelor of Music (BMus) after completing studies with the University of New England in Armidale, NSW and the CQU Conservatorium of Music in Mackay, QLD. Megan also completed a Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary).
Whilst living in Central Queensland Megan helped to revive the instrumental music program at the local Primary and High school and served as a specialist teacher for district workshops. She takes every opportunity to play and has performed as a soloist and member of small and large ensembles for community events. Since returning to Bundaberg Megan has performed in Shalom’s production of Annie and the Bundaberg Players Incorporated production of Les Misérable.
Megan works at both Shalom and St Mary’s Catholic Primary school as a classroom and instrumental music teacher. She believes that every student learns in their own way and in their own time and is dedicated to help them successfully navigate their musical journey.
Delwyn Ainsworth
Delwyn is BYO Assistant Conductor. She has previously been Assistant Conductor of BYO2 in 2019, and was appointed Acting Conductor of BYO2 in 2018 after the retirement of BYO2 Conductor Barry Davis. Delwyn was guest conductor of Bundaberg Symphony Orchestra in 2016 after the retirement of Fred Coleman. She conducted the combined choir/orchestra during the Richard Gill Boot Camp Concert in 2013 joined by participants from Bundaberg Orpheus Singers and Bundaberg Youth Orchestra. Delwyn played flute for the Shalom College musical orchestra for their musical "Annie" in 2018 and has also played on tour with BYO1 in 2017 and 2019.  In 2016 she sang with Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Orpheus for a performance of "The Messiah" under the direction of Gordon Hamilton at the Moncrieff. Delwyn also plays pipe organ, and was a percussionist with Queensland Wind and Brass. Delwyn has taught Early Childhood Music.
